Gambling was removed because it lead to abunch of scams NOT because it was "illegal".

EDIT: To Slow

100K trades are not a scam waiting to happen. It could be argued that trades over 100K could lead to scams but that can be avoided if your smart.

100k+ trades are sometimes scams waiting to happen. But those are entirely based on player judgement.

Roll gambling is also based on player judgement, but Anet found an easy way to get rid of it without affecting gameplay too much.

The ability to use the dice command was removed from outposts and towns, nothing more.

What? No? .. Really?

Then why on God's green earth is this here except as some sort of trolling attempt at flamebait? Mercury Angel said it once, and I'll say it again, "Please go here: http://www.esrb.com/consumer_online_hotline.asp"

If you want the ESRB to do something, maybe you should tell them? I somehow doubt their here watching the GWG forum, just waiting to pick up some hot tip about changes in Guildwars.
Thank you for reminding me, ESRB debate is something for Off-Topic and the Absurd, most likely, as it has no bearing on gameplay, and the ESRB is an independent organization.

It's so easy to get caught up in arguing for the sake of arguing.

On an entirely unrelated note, I could care less about what the ESRB thinks as well. I'm perfectly capable of researching game content on my own and determining if I want to play it, and I often do.

So, let us agree to disagree, and say bunk or not, this discussion should end here willingly and if anyone really wants to try and make a difference in changing the ESRB rating, the proper resource has been posted for them, and any arguing over this is pointless.

Good day, all, and enjoy the game.

INCORRECT

it was removed because cheats were scamming people

if it were illegal their extensive legal team would have advised them and it would not nave appeared in the first place.

Oh great, another adult who thinks teenagers can't think. Look, I'm 15, I know better than to drink, gamble, or anything else like that at my age. Do you really think that if we see beer in a game we'll go out the next day and drink some? We're not ALL idiots you know. I play Halo, but I'm not stupid enough to go blow up my neighbors with rocket launchers. I play Ninja Gaiden but you don't see my chopping up my classmates with swords.

Ale should stay - It is a much needed money sink in the game.

The game can be re-reviewed all it wants. Likely it will need to have "Use of Alcohol" in it. IMO that isn't right, because there is no proof. But it doesn't make a difference to me, I already own the game with the rating "T for Teen" on my box. So I'll go back to my hole in the Off Topic Forum, coming out only to argue over pointless things.

I know Mr. Niceguy adults need to stop coddling us. Wait until we do something VERY bad to stop us. I mean I'm lucky and my parents mostly let me do what ever I want but sometimes I just want to wail on them for their stupidity. I mean if you go to public high school you see worse stuff walking down the halls than anything in GW or most anywere else.

"Titles rated T (Teen) have content that may be suitable for ages 13 and older." May, MAY. Teen rating does not automatically mean it's a "safe game," it's more of a rough guideline based on commonly accepted ideas and content in our society.

As many above posters have mentioned, it is not the responsibility of the ESRB, ANet, or the United States government to monitor what your children are doing while gaming/online. That responsibility falls squarely on PARENTS. You know, those people who are supposed to be responsible for raising children in a civilized society? Stop giving up your freedom and begging the government to do your job for you, and do it yourselves. Pay attention to your kids, watch what they're doing, and just be a good parent. Nothing the government can do is a substitute for that.

My apologies for such a strong stance, but as a student of political history and a teacher of U.S. Constitution, I am offended by the concept of the government stepping in to fix all our problems because we as a society are too lazy to do it ourselves.
